Representatives of the State Statistical Committee participated in the Workshop on “International Statistical Classifications” hold in the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova
Deputy Head of the Department on Coordination of Statistical Works of the State Statistical Committee - T. Ajalov and head adviser of the same Department - E. Mammadov participated in the workshop on International Statistical Classifications for CIS countries hold on 19-21 March, 2013 in Kishinev, Moldova. Workshop was jointly organized by the United Nations Department of Economics and Social Affairs’ Statistics Division, the Statistics Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the Statistical Office of the European Communities. The representatives of member countries of CIS, Mongolia and Georgia were participated in the workshop.
The workshop was focus on the implementation of the recently revised activity and product classifications and was in particular:
Review the current implementation and use of national activity and product classifications and their relationship to the International Standard Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities and the Central Product Classification in the region;
Provide information on methodological changes related to the application of the classification, such as outlined in the revised introductions;
Address implementation issues in connection with the revised classifications;
Discuss country experiences and case studies;
Discuss measures to facilitate cooperation in the field of classifications, including coordination of work on regional/sub regional cooperation in classifications.
Representative of the Statistical Department of UNO Mr. Ralf Becker, Mr. Michael Mietzner from Eurostat and employee of UNECE Mr. Rami Peltola and Ms. Yelena Mochalova from the Statistical Committee of CIS participated in the workshop.
In her speech on classification in CIS region representative of the Statistics Committee of the CIS Ms. Yelena Mochalova expressed her satisfaction on activities in this field in Azerbaijan. Also, Ms. Mochalova noted that, some countries in CIS region are interested in Statistical Classification on Services and Products of Information and Communication Technologies prepared in Azerbaijan and asked to upload translated version (English or Russian) of that classification in the official webpage of the State Statistical Committee in order to use that classification in their activities.
