Training Course on Advanced Methods for Sample Surveys organized in Neuchatel, Switzerland
Representatives of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Saleh Movlamov – Director of the Scientific-Research and Design Techological Centre of the Statistical Data, Togrul Ajalov – Deputy Head of Department on Coordination of Statistical Works and Fuad Gocayev – Adviser of the same Department participated in the Training Course on Advanced Methods for Sample Surveys organized by Swiss Federal Statistics and EFTA on 15-19 September, 2014 in Neuchatel, Switzerland. The main purpose of the training course gave an overview of some advanced methods for sample surveys according to the attached course description and was aimed at junior staff of methodology divisions and more experienced staff using sample survey techniques in the production of statistics. Representatives from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia participated in the training course.
The course covered following topics: introduction to the R software, dealing with nonresponse, variance estimation and coordination techniques.
In the first day of the course all representatives were informed about the introduction of the R software used in Swiss and some countries of Europa. In the frame of the course it was presented presentation on R software: R – a language and environment, R – essentials, R-objects, Importing and exporting data, simple statistics, graphics, R – packages and References and resources.
In the second and third days of the course the topics on dealing with nonresponse, variance estimation were studied.
The fourth and fifth days of the course was covered the topic on coordination techniques of sample surveys.
The last day of the course all studied topics were discussed and it was carried out assessment of experts on sample survey.
