Working Group Meeting for the Revision of the International Classification of Status in Employment held in Geneva

Working Group Meeting for the Revision of the International Classification of Status in Employment was organized by International Labour Organization (ILO) and held on 6-8 May, 2015 in Geneva. Deputy Head of Labour Statistics Department of the State Statistical Committee Nemat Khuduzade participated in the Meeting as the member of the Working Group.
The main purpose of the meeting was to support and advise the ILO in the preparation of a draft resolution to replace ICSE-93 with a new set of statistical standards.
Experts from national statistical bodies of Australia, USA, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Germany, Mexico, Chile, Sweden, Finland, England and India, China and the Republic of Southern Africa and international organizations (Eurostat, ILO, Eurofund, and WIEGO) participated in the meeting.
The main objectives of the first meeting were: (a) to discuss the scope and conceptual framework of the standards that will replace ICSE-93, (b) to agree on the issues that need to be addressed in the revision, and (c) to discuss the work plan and timetable for the revision and the nature of the support that working group members can provide.
Following topics were discussed during the meeting: Issues to be addressed, scope, of the work and timeframe for the revision of ICSE-93; Working arrangements that display characteristics of both independent and dependent work (including paid employment); ‘Regular’ employment and non-standard or temporary working arrangements; Definition and identification of Domestic Workers; Conceptual framework for statistics on the work relationship – options and possibilities and Next steps and Future work.
