Chairman of the State Statistical Committee Tahir Budagov has met with the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus

Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Tahir Budagov met with a delegation led by Mrs. Mersi Tembon, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus. World Bank Country Manager for Azerbaijan, Navid Nagvi and other staff attended the meeting discussed an active partnership between the Government of Azerbaijan and the World Bank, including the World Bank's Economic Growth Program in Azerbaijan, diagnostics of workplaces, poverty assessment activities and projects implemented by the World Bank with State Statistical Committee.

Welcoming the World Bank delegation, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee Tahir Budagov said that in recent years under the leadership of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev stable socio-economic development has been provided in our country, not only macroeconomic stability, but also economic potential has been further strengthened. It was noted that based on the request of the State Statistical Committee andEuropean Union Statistical Bureau (Eurostat), the results of the Global Assessment of the National Statistical System of Azerbaijan conducted by the Statistical Bureau of the European Union and the European Economic Commission and the European Free Trade Association officially approved European standards.

Mrs. Mersey Tembon, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, expressed his satisfaction with the meeting. He underlined the positive significance of the work carried out to improve the statistical system of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the necessary support from the World Bank.

The sides exchanged information on the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of statistics between the State Statistical Committee and the World Bank.
