Current state of tourism
According to the State Border Service data, in January-October 2022 Azerbaijan received 1323,2 thousand or 2,2 times more foreigners and stateless persons from 176 countries of the world compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 27,4 percent of the arrivals were from Russian Federation, 19,4 percent – Türkiye, 10,8 percent – Iran, 6,8 percent – Saudi Arabia, 4,8 percent – Georgia, 3,4 percent – India, 3,3 percent –Pakistan, 2,2 percent – United Arab Emirates, 1,9 percent – Kazakhstan, 1,8 percent – Ukraine, 1,7 percent – Israel, 1,6 percent – Uzbekistan, 1,5 percent – Kuwait, 1,3 percent – Oman, 1,1 percent – Belarus, 11,0 percent – were citizens of other countries. 74,6 percent of the arrivals were men and 25,4 percent were women.
In comparison with the same period of the previous year, the number of arrivals from Kuwait increased by 105,4 times, Oman – 70,8 times, Saudi Arabia – 35,6 times, Pakistan – 22,3 times, India – 15,4 times, Uzbekistan – 6,5 times, Kazakhstan – 5,3 times, Israel – 4,4 times, United Arab Emirates – 4,2 times, USA – 3,2 times, Germany – 2,7 times, France – 2,4 times, Great Britain – 1,9 times, Russian Federation – 1,8 times, Ukraine – 1,7 times, Türkiye – 1,6 times, Iran – 44,1 percent, Georgia – 28,3 percent.
Compared to January-October 2021, the number of arrivals from Gulf countries increased by 2,7 times and amounted to 307,5 thousand persons, from EU member countries increased by 2,3 times and amounted to 62,6 thousand persons, from the CIS countries it increased by 2,0 times and amounted to 462,9 thousand persons.
The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad increased by 1,6 times compared with January-October 2021 and amounted to 1215,5 thousand persons. The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 2,8 times, Georgia – 1,7 times, Türkiye – 1,6 times, Russian Federation – 15,9 percent. 46,7 percent of the country citizens traveled to Türkiye, 17,9 percent – Russian Federation, 11,0 percent - Iran, 8,7 percent – Georgia and 15,7 percent to other countries. 64,3 percent of the travelers were men and 35,7 percent were women.
