Activities of hotels and similar establishments in 2023
The number of nights spent in hotels and similar establishments in 2023 increased by 29,3% compared with 2022 and amounted to 3422,3 thousand. 57,6% of the total nights spent were registered in Baku, 5,5% in Guba, 4,7% in Khachmaz, 4,2% in Naftalan, 4,0% in Gabala, 3,9% in Gusar, 3,7% in Shabran, 3,2% in Lankaran, 1,5% in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 1,2% in Gakh, 1,0% in Ganja, 0,9% in Masalli, 0,9% in Ismayilli, 0,9% in Shamakhi, 0,8% in Shaki, 0,6% in Shusha, 0,5% in Mingachevir and 4,9% in other districts and cities.
The number of nights spent by foreigners and stateless persons increased by 33,7 percent compared to 2022 and reached 1864,0 thousand, representing 54,5% of total nights. 15.2% of the total nights were spent by citizens of the Russian Federation, 10,3% - India, 9,7% - Saudi Arabia, 7,8% - Türkiye, 7,3% - the United Arab Emirates, 3,7% - Kuwait, 3,6% - Israel, 2,9% - the USA, 2,9% - Kazakhstan, 2,9% - Great Britain, 2,2% - Uzbekistan, 2,0% - Pakistan, 1,9% - China, 1,8% - Georgia, 1,5% - Germany, 1,2% - Italy, 0,9% - Qatar, 0,8% - Ukraine, 0,7% - Belarus, 0,7% - France, 0,6% - Iran, 0,6% - Bahrain, 0,5% - Oman, 0,5% - Poland, 0,4% - Netherlands, 17,4% - citizens of other countries.
82,5% of the nights in hotels spent by foreigners and stateless persons were registered in Baku city, 4,0% in Gabala, 3,6% in Naftalan, 3,6% in Guba, 3,5% in Gusar, 0,5% in Shabran and 2,3% in other districts and cities.
The number of nights spent in hotels by the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan compared to 2022 increased by 24,4% and made 1558,3 thousand, representing 45,5% of total nights.
In 2023, hotels and similar establishments’ revenues increased by 37,6% compared to the corresponding period of 2022 and amounted to 488,8 million manats, 60,0% of which were from services for the provision of rooms, 27,7% catering services, 3,4% treatment and health services and 8,9% other services.
In 2023, one-time use of rooms in hotels and similar establishments was 20,1% (15,7% in 2022). This indicator was 51,4% in Shabran, 44,1% in Naftalan, 29,9% in Beylagan, 29,8% in Baku, 27,4% in Guba, 25,7% in Lankaran, 22,8% in Aghjabadi, while in other cities and regions, it was below average.
