Emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere
In 2023 volume of air pollutant emissions from stationary sources and motor vehicles compared to 2022 increased by 34,5 thsd. tons and generally made 965,1 thsd. tons, of which 85,0 percent or 820,8 thsd. tons were per the share of harmful emissions from motor vehicles. Volume of emissions of harmful substances from motor vehicles increased by 6,3 percent and volume of emissions from stationary sources decreased by 8,9 percent. Volume of emissions of harmful substances from stationary sources in Baku, the industrial center, decreased by 21,1 thsd. tons, Sumgayit – 0,9 thsd. tons, while in Mingechevir increased by 0,2 thsd. tons.
As a result of preventive measures, last year 67,3 percent of harmful substances generated from stationary sources were captured and disposed by cleaning devices. During the year for decreasing quantity of emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere 85,2 thsd. tons of emissions of harmful substances into air basin were prevented due to improvement of technological processes in industrial enterprises and increasing efficiency of existing cleaning devices. 61,5 percent of total harmful emissions into the atmosphere made carbon oxide, 21,3 percent – carbohydrates, 13,4 percent - nitrogen oxide, 0,1 percent - sulfur anhydrite and the rest part – other pollutants.
