Regional Conference “Accelerating Progress towards Inclusive Development through Gender Statistics” was held in Georgia
On July 25-26, 2024 the Regional Conference “Accelerating Progress towards Inclusive Development through Gender Statistics” was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, co-organized by the National Statistics Office of Georgia and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment (UN Women). The Conference was attended by Mr. Vahab Mammadov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Ms. Zabiha Asgar, Head of the Gender Statistics Sector of the Population Statistics Department.
The conference was dedicated to the 105 Years’ Anniversary of the National Statistics Office of Georgia as well as to 25 Years of Collecting the Gender Statistics. During the Conference, high-level representatives of national statistical offices and international organizations shared their best practices in improving gender statistics. Additionally, comprehensive discussions were held on future initiatives in the field of gender statistics with representatives from various countries.
During the Conference, the achievements on socio-economic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the collection of gender statistics were presented.
At the end of the event, the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan was awarded a certificate by UN Women for its achievements in the field of gender statistics.
