Specialists of the State Statistical Committee conducted training on labour and employment statistics for representatives of the national statistical offices of OIC member countries
On October 9-10, 2024, specialists of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan conducted an online training on “Conducting and Analyzing Labour Force Surveys for Monitoring the Labour Market” for representatives of national statistical offices of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries. The event was organized by the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Program. The training was attended by 115 representatives from 25 member countries.
The main objective of the training was to enhance the capacity of representatives from the national statistical offices of OIC member countries in the application of existing international methodologies on labour and employment statistics at the national level, conducting statistical surveys for labour market analysis, ensuring the international comparability of the statistical data obtained.
The training featured presentations by Mr. Nemat Khuduzade, Head of the Labor Statistics Department of the State Statistical Committee, and consultants Ms. Dilbar Huseynova and Mr. Zahir Mehdiyev. They covered topics such as the national application of new standards from the 19th and 20th International Conferences of Labour Statisticians of the International Labour Organization, labour force surveys, and international sector assessments on earnings statistics, including wages, labour costs, and vacancies, the survey questionnaires and methodologies applied in the national labour force sample surveys, developed in accordance with new international standards, along with the methodology for selecting households for these surveys and the improvement of the current official reporting forms on earnings statistics, the use of administrative sources for the production of official statistical data, strategic plans for the development of labour statistics, real-time data collection methods for labour statistics, and future direction of activity were also presented.
Participants’ questions were answered, and discussions were held during the event.
