Memorandum of Understanding signed between the State Statistical Committee and the General Statistics Office of Viet Nam
On December 17, a meeting was held between Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the delegation led by Nguyen Thi Huong, Director General of the General Statistics Office of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, who is visiting our country.
The meeting highlighted that Azerbaijan and Viet Nam are friendly and partner countries that respect each other’s interests, and the development of interstate relations along an upward trajectory is a source of great satisfaction.
It was specifically emphasized that the foundation of relations between our peoples was laid during the USSR period, with the historical significance of the visit of the leader of the Vietnamese people, Ho Chi Minh, to Azerbaijan in 1959 and the visit of Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev, to Viet Nam in 1983 as the First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers.
After the restoration of Azerbaijan’s independence, the importance of mutual visits was highlighted, with special emphasis on the state visit of President Ilham Aliyev to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in 2014 and the official visit of Viet Nam’s President Truong Tan Sang to Azerbaijan in 2015, which created a solid foundation for deepening cooperation in political, economic, cultural-humanitarian, and other fields. It was noted that today, thanks to the political will of the leaders of both countries, there is active political dialogue and effective cooperation in international organizations between the two countries.
It was noted that Azerbaijan and Viet Nam are interested in expanding their cooperation in economic-trade, cultural-humanitarian, education, tourism, energy and other fields, providing sustainable socio-economic development and strengthening their positions in the international arena by implementing policies based on national interests and modern challenges, and the importance of collaboration between relevant state institutions, including the State Statistical Committee and the General Statistics Office of Viet Nam, was emphasized.
It was also mentioned that the statistical experience of both countries is of mutual interest, and detailed information was provided about the activities of the relevant state bodies, including reforms and the application of innovations.
The visit of Chairman Tahir Budagov to Viet Nam in 2023 and his meeting with Director General Nguyen Thi Huong was recalled with pleasure, and it was mentioned that during that meeting, effective discussions on future cooperation took place.
Later, the “Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of statistics” was signed between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the General Statistics Office of Viet Nam. The Memorandum was signed by Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee, and Nguyen Thi Huong, Director General of the General Statistics Office of Viet Nam.
It was expressed with confidence that the implementation of the tasks arising from the Memorandum would yield effective results, contributing to the development of cooperation in statistics, expanding the exchange of internationally comparable statistical data that reflects the socio-economic situation of both countries, and strengthening interstate cooperation.
