Current state of tourism
According to the State Border Service data, in January-November 2024 the Republic of Azerbaijan received 2412,0 thousand or 27,4 percent more foreigners and stateless persons from 195 countries of the world compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 28,2% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 16,1% – Türkiye, 8,9% – India, 8,0% – Iran, 4,1% – Georgia, 3,9% – Saudi Arabia, 3,3% – Kazakhstan, 3,0% – Pakistan, 1,8% – China, 1,7% - Uzbekistan, 1,6% - United Arab Emirates, 1,4% – Ukraine, per 1,2% - Turkmenistan and Kuwait, 1,1% - Israel, per 1,0% - Oman, Belarus and Great Britain, 11,5% – were citizens of other countries. 67,0% of the arrivals were men and 33,0% were women.
In comparison with the same period of the previous year, the number of arrivals from India increased by 2,2-fold, Spain – 2,0-fold, South Korea – 2,0-fold, China – 1,9-fold, Philippines – 1,6-fold, Kyrgyzstan – 1,5-fold, Kazakhstan – 49,8%, Pakistan – 48,5%, Oman – 45,0%, Jordan – 41,6%, Poland – 37,9%, Italy – 37,0%, USA – 35,2%, Iran – 30,4%, the Netherlands – 28,5%, Turkmenistan – 28,1%, Germany – 28,0%, Yemen – 27,7%, France – 24,5%, Saudi Arabia – 22,7%, Tajikistan – 21,8%, Egypt – 20,8%, Great Britain – 20,3%, Russian Federation – 17,7%, Uzbekistan – 16,2%, Ukraine – 15,9%, Türkiye – 13,9%, Moldova - 11,3%.
Compared to January-November 2023, the number of arrivals from EU member countries increased by 37,3 percent and amounted to 106,0 thousand persons, from Gulf countries increased by 25,3 percent and amounted to 391,9 thousand persons, from the CIS countries increased by 19,4% and amounted to 905,8 thousand persons.
75,9% of foreigners and stateless persons arriving in our country used air transport, 22,9% - railway and car, 1,2% - sea transport.
The total number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad increased by 16,9% compared to January-November 2023 and amounted to 1998,9 thousand persons. The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 33,0%, Russian Federation - 13,4%, Georgia - 13,0%, Türkiye – 9,9%. 41,4% of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveled to Türkiye, 20,6% – Russian Federation, 8,7% – Georgia, 8,6% - Iran, 20,7% to other countries. 63,9% of the travelers were men and 36,1% were women.
In January-November 2024, 69,5% of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who visited foreign countries used air transport, 28,4% railway and car, 2,1% sea transport.
