Current state of tourism
According to the State Border Service data, in 2024 the Republic of Azerbaijan received 2626,7 thousand or 25,9 percent more foreigners and stateless persons from 196 countries of the world compared to the previous year. 27,8% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 16,2% – Türkiye, 9,3% – India, 8,0% – Iran, 4,2% – Georgia, 3,7% – Saudi Arabia, 3,3% – Kazakhstan, 3,1% – Pakistan, per 1,8% - United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan, 1,7% – China, 1,4% – Ukraine, 1,3% - Turkmenistan, 1,2% - Kuwait, 1,1% - Israel, per 1,0% - Belarus and Great Britain, 12,1% – were citizens of other countries. 67,3% of the arrivals were men and 32,7% were women.
In comparison with 2023, the number of arrivals from India increased by 2,1-fold, Spain – 2,0-fold, South Korea – 1,9-fold, China – 1,9-fold, Kyrgyzstan – 49,6%, Kazakhstan – 48,6%, Pakistan – 46,7%, Philippines – 44,3%, Oman – 41,6%, Jordan – 39,7%, Poland – 37,0%, USA – 35,1%, Italy – 35,1%, Germany – 27,4%, Iran – 27,2%, the Netherlands – 27,1%, Turkmenistan – 27,0%, Tajikistan – 21,7%, Saudi Arabia – 21,6%, Yemen – 21,0%, France – 20,0%, Great Britain – 19,2%, Egypt – 17,2%, Russian Federation – 17,0%, Uzbekistan – 17,0%, Ukraine – 15,6%, Türkiye – 12,7%, Moldova - 11,8%.
Compared to 2023, the number of arrivals from EU member countries increased by 34,9 percent and amounted to 112,3 thousand persons, from Gulf countries increased by 21,4 percent and amounted to 425,0 thousand persons, from the CIS countries increased by 18,8% and amounted to 979,0 thousand persons.
75,6% of foreigners and stateless persons arriving in our country used air transport, 23,1% - railway and car, 1,3% - sea transport.
The total number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad increased by 15,5% compared to 2023 and amounted to 2158,9 thousand persons. The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 32,0%, Russian Federation - 11,6%, Georgia - 11,5%, Türkiye – 8,5%. 41,0% of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveled to Türkiye, 20,7% – Russian Federation, 8,7% – Georgia, 8,7% - Iran, 20,9% to other countries. 63,8% of the travelers were men and 36,2% were women.
In 2024, 69,4% of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who visited foreign countries used air transport, 28,5% railway and car, 2,1% sea transport.
