Current state of tourism
According to the State Border Service data, in January-February 2025 the Republic of Azerbaijan received 338,6 thousand or 0,7 percent more foreigners and stateless persons from 162 countries of the world compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 23,4% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 18,6% – Türkiye, 9,9% – India, 9,3% – Iran, 5,0% – Georgia, 3,3% – Kazakhstan, 3,2% – Pakistan, per 2,9% - United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, 1,8% - Kuwait, 1,7% - Uzbekistan, 1,6% – China, per 1,4% – Turkmenistan and Ukraine, 1,2% - Israel, 1,1% - Oman, 11,3% – were citizens of other countries. 72,2% of the arrivals were men and 27,8% were women.
In comparison with the same period of the previous year, the number of arrivals from Israel increased by 3,9-fold, Tajikistan – 1,9-fold, China – 1,8-fold, Spain – 1,7-fold, Jordan – 44,6%, India – 44,0%, Kyrgyzstan – 25,7%, Kazakhstan – 21,0%, Pakistan – 19,6%, Egypt – 18,9%, USA – 17,4%, the Netherlands – 16,5%.
Compared to January-February 2024, the number of arrivals from EU member countries decreased by 1,6 percent and amounted to 11,0 thousand persons, from Gulf countries – by 9,9% percent and amounted to 62,1 thousand persons, from the CIS countries - by 9,2% and amounted to 107,4 thousand persons, and arrivals from other countries increased by 10,8%, reaching to 158,1 thousand persons.
71,2% of foreigners and stateless persons arriving in our country used air transport, 27,2% - railway and car, and 1,6% - sea transport.
The total number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad decreased by 0,1% compared to January-February 2024 and amounted to 296,3 thousand persons. The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 25,4%, Georgia - 17,4%, while the number of citizens traveling to Türkiye decreased by 2,7%, Russian Federation - 27,7%. 36,9% of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveled to Türkiye, 15,8% – Russian Federation, 11,4% – Georgia, 10,7% - Iran, 25,2% to other countries. 67,5% of the travelers were men and 32,5% were women.
In January-February 2025, 68,1% of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who visited foreign countries used air transport, 29,7% railway and car, and 2,2% - sea transport.
