An event dedicated to the Day of State Sovereignty was held at the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan
On September 19, an event dedicated to the Day of State Sovereignty was held at the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a moment of silence in memory of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland.
Speakers of the event emphasized that September 20 – the Day of State Sovereignty – is a historic day symbolizing the irreversibility of Azerbaijan’s independence, the restoration of its territorial integrity, and the unshakable will of its people. Established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on September 19, 2024, the Day of State Sovereignty reflects one of the most significant turning points in modern Azerbaijani history. This decision affirms that, as a result of the anti-terrorist operation carried out in September 2023, the constitutional order of Azerbaijan was restored across all its territories and the country’s territorial integrity was fully ensured.
It was noted that for any nation, having control over its destiny and building and developing an independent state is the greatest achievement. Our territorial integrity and sovereignty, secured at the cost of the blood of our heroic soldiers, officers, and martyrs, represent the national wealth of our people. The Patriotic War, launched on September 27, 2020, in response to Armenia’s provocations, and the successful anti-terrorist operation carried out on September 19-20, 2023, ended in a historic victory thanks to the iron will and capable leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and the bravery of our army, serves as proof of Azerbaijan’s steadfastness as a sovereign state on the stage of history.
It was emphasized that the determination demonstrated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev in protecting sovereignty continues today in the position of President Ilham Aliyev, whose speeches clearly reflect the inviolability of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty. The President not only ensures the country’s security and national interests but also calls for the establishment of a just world order in the international arena.
It was also stated that the declaration of 2025 as the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty” represents a significant step toward deepening the understanding of the foundations of Azerbaijani statehood and passing them on to future generations, underscores that Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty have been fully restored, and coincides with the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution and the 5th anniversary of victory in the Patriotic War.
At the end of the event, a film dedicated to the Day of State Sovereignty was screened.
