Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Tahir Budagov participates in the International Forum in Astana
On 6–7 November 2025, an International Forum on “Digital Transformation of National Statistical Systems” and a ceremony dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the National Statistical Institution of Kazakhstan are being held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan is represented at the event by Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the Forum, discussions are being held on a range of topical issues, including the modernization of official statistics through the application of innovative information technologies (artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc.), new approaches to data management, ensuring data security and confidentiality, as well as strengthening and improving human resources. The necessity of transforming technical infrastructure and statistical processes, addressing growing challenges jointly, and improving opportunities to meet user needs are also among the key topics. The event consists of sessions focused on the digital transformation of national statistical systems, data quality and its growing importance in the modern world, the potential use of big data in official statistics, the application of artificial intelligence technologies in public administration, as well as communication between data producers and users.
On the first day of the Forum, Toghrul Ajalov, Head of the Department of Coordination of Statistical Works and Strategic Planning of the State Statistical Committee, delivered a presentation providing detailed information on the implementation of a quality management system in Azerbaijan, metadata and transparency efforts, quality control dashboards, verification of primary data quality in household budget surveys and consumer price index compilation, and the role of administrative data in enhancing the quality of statistical information.
