On 6 November, a conference dedicated to the fifth anniversary of 8 November – Victory Day was held at the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
At the conference, the cherished memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the founder and architect of the modern Azerbaijani state, as well as the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our homeland, was first honored with a minute of silence, and the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.
Then, a film dedicated to the fifth anniversary of 8 November – Victory Day was screened.
Speakers at the conference noted that, thanks to the determination of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the heroism of the glorious Azerbaijani Army, the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country were fully restored. They emphasized that the Patriotic War became one of the brightest pages of our history and a source of pride for the Azerbaijani people, who stood united around the “Iron Fist”.
It was highlighted that during the 44-day Patriotic War, our heroic Army, soldiers, and officers demonstrated to the world the unity of a strong state, a strong army, national solidarity, and firm willpower. It was stressed that the Karabakh conflict was brought to an end through the courage and heroism of our Armed Forces, and that Victory Day is a significant date instilling deep pride and joy. It was noted that under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, purposeful steps were taken to liberate Azerbaijan’s territories occupied by Armenia, and consistent efforts were carried out both domestically and internationally, laying the foundation for the Great Victory. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, successfully continued this policy, completing the just struggle for the restoration of the territorial integrity and historical justice of our Motherland with a glorious victory, thus fulfilling both the will of his father and his promise to the people, and transforming Azerbaijan into the powerful, sovereign, and victorious state envisioned by Heydar Aliyev.
It was reported that large-scale reconstruction and restoration works are being carried out in the liberated territories, cultural and historical monuments are being restored, major road, transport, energy, and other infrastructure projects are being implemented, the foundations of dozens of settlements have been laid, and the return of the population to a number of cities, villages, and settlements has already begun. It was also noted that construction in areas deliberately destroyed by Armenia over the past 30 years is progressing rapidly and systematically, and thanks to the Great Return program, thousands of our compatriots who were forced to leave their homes are now returning to their ancestral lands, putting an end to decades of longing.
It was emphasized that today Azerbaijan is recognized internationally not only as the victor of the war, but also as a key initiator and guarantor of peace, stability, and cooperation in the region. Thanks to the prestige we have gained at the international level, our country actively participates in the complex processes taking place in the world. It was stated with confidence that, through the resolute policy of President Ilham Aliyev and the unwavering unity of the Azerbaijani people, our country will continue to achieve remarkable successes and new victories, and the tricolour flag proudly raised across every corner of our Motherland will continue to wave high with glory.
