Number of foreigners and stateless persons who arrived to the Republic of Azerbaijan and citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who travelled to foreign countries in January-August 2026
According to the State Border Service data, in January-August 2026 the Republic of Azerbaijan received 1586,0 thousand or 7,8 percent less foreigners and stateless persons from 191 countries of the world compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 27,9% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 19,4% – Türkiye, 7,8% – Iran, 4,8% – Georgia, 4,6% – Kazakhstan, 3,5% - Israel, 3,4% - Pakistan, 3,2% - Uzbekistan, per 2,6% China and India, 2,5% – Saudi Arabia, 1,6% – Ukraine, 1,3% - Turkmenistan, 1,1% - Germany, 1,0% - Great Britain and 12,7% – were citizens of other countries and stateless persons. 66,9% of the arrivals were men and 33,1% were women.
In January-August 2026 compared to January-August 2025, the number of arrivals from EU member countries increased by 6,6 percent and amounted to 77,8 thousand persons, from the CIS countries it increased by 3,1% and amounted to 619,5 thousand persons, from Gulf countries decreased by 33,3 percent and amounted to 192,0 thousand persons and arrivals from other countries decreased by 8,2%, reaching 696,7 thousand persons.
73,1% of foreigners and stateless persons arriving in our country used air transport, 25,5% - railway and car, and 1,4% - sea transport.
In January-August 2026 compared to January-August 2025, the total number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who travelled to foreign countries decreased by 2,4% and amounted to 1384,5 thousand persons. 43,9% of our citizens travelled to Türkiye (2,2% more compared to the same period of the previous year), 14,8% - Russian Federation (2,2% less), 12,8% - Georgia (13,6% more), 5,3% - Iran (41,2% less), 23,2% to other countries (3,9% less). 64,0% of the travellers were men and 36,0% were women.
In January-August 2026, 70,7% of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who travelled to foreign countries used air transport, 27,4% railway and car, and 1,9% - sea transport.
